NFL verses End of Policing

The NFL says there is “no basis” for a personal conduct investigation against Michael Bennett after the head of the union that represents Las Vegas police officers asked NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to investigate and “take appropriate action” against the Seattle Seahawks defensive end for alleging officers racially profiled him in an incident after the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight on August 26.

Bennett said he was singled out by police from among several hundred people running from the casino.

Body cameras are now worn by more than half the department’s more than 2,600 sworn police officers, who cover a metropolitan area of 2 million residents that receives more than 40 million tourists a year.

The union’s letter, authored by Detective Steve Grammas, claims police had “reasonable suspicion” to detain Bennett while they determined if he was a suspect.
