As an NFL rookie, former Auburn standout Jonathan Jones played on the winning team in the Super Bowl.
The Patriots placed him on injured reserve on Wednesday, and Jones will miss Sunday’s AFC championship game and, if New England advances, Super Bowl LII.
In his two seasons in the NFL, Jones hadn’t missed a game, playing in 32 regular-season and four postseason contests with the Patriots.
During the 2017 regular season, Jones was on the field for 289 special-teams plays, the second-most on New England, and 439 defensive snaps.
Against Tennessee, Jones got hurt on his eighth defensive snap after playing 19 special-teams plays.
